Appointment Pool
Willetton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Humanities and Social Sciences Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements up to the end of Term 1, 2025.
We require teachers who have proven experience and/or knowledge in teaching in this learning area and in particular Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) courses. Suitable applicants who display knowledge, understanding of curriculum requirements, standards and teaching experience and/or qualifications in Senior School courses offered by the Humanities and Social Sciences learning area, including certificate II or IV in (BME) Business Management and Enterprise and/or ATAR BME will be highly regarded.
Applicants should be relationship focused and able to display strong interpersonal skills while working collaboratively in a team environment. Suitable applicants will be joining a progressive and enthusiastic team of teachers who are engaged in implementing a whole school approach to the educational programs offered. Applicants should be able to display a willingness to lead curriculum development and teaching pedagogy to meet the needs of Year 7 to Year 12 students and be directly involved in the teaching of Modified or Literacy focused classes and of Gifted and Talented students if required.
Willetton SHS is an inclusive and comprehensive secondary school with a growing student population currently in excess of 2700 and expected to expand to over 3000 students by 2028. The school successfully caters for the academic, social and emotional development of students with diverse educational needs including those with English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) background, special needs and gifted and talented students.
There are approximately 230 teaching staff and 125 support staff on campus. Willetton staff recognise that students are individuals with different histories, interests, abilities and aptitudes. The school is committed to the intellectual, creative and social development of the students by the provision of stimulating and relevant programs and orderly teaching and classroom practices.
The school offers a number of specialist programs to meet student needs and interests. These programs include Gifted and Talented and Specialist Basketball, and there is a strong focus on Vocation and Education Training (VET). There are numerous after school sporting teams, debating, poetry and special interest clubs. Willetton SHS prides itself on an ethos that all students should be successful.

Eligibility
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements.
Training
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
