This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2023

Cape Naturaliste College (CNC) is seeking an organised, motivated Facilities and Finance Officer to join their friendly team.

As the Facilities and Finance Officer you will provide support to the Manager Corporate Services in coordinating the daily operations relating to the management and maintenance of the school grounds and facilities, as well as the daily financial aspects of the school. You will assist in the supervision of the school cleaning and gardening services, including management of staff, overseeing faults management and contractors.

The successful applicant will coordinate the community use of college grounds and amenities, including scheduling and completion of required documentation. Given the nature of this role, sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety in relation to school equipment including cleaning, gardening and workshop machinery would be well regarded.

The successful applicant will coordinate financial tasks including processing of payments, invoicing, cash and asset management, reconciliation and assisting the Manager Corporate Services with managing the college’s financial resources and budgeting, while ensuring procedures and processes comply with applicable legislation and policy. You will provide advice and support to staff on administrative procedures, business management software and matters relating to financial legislation, policy and administrative procedures. The successful applicant will also supervise administrative support staff, including scheduling and allocating tasks and managing staff performance and leave entitlements.

Cape Naturaliste College was established in 2008 after extensive consultation with members of the community and that strong community involvement continues to this day. The College began its journey as a middle school, with a strong belief in the value of teamwork and a spirit of collaboration that has come to pervade the school ethos. Over time, a visibly strong sense of belonging and pride in the College has grown along with a significant expansion to the breadth and sophistication of the College's facilities, along with its ceremonies, extra-curricular activities, musical and sporting events. CNC has consistently shown the resilience to adapt to new challenges whilst maintaining the essence of its culture.

Cape Naturaliste college has established itself as a school with cultural excellence in teaching and learning.  It is made up of a passionate body of staff who work collaboratively and strategically.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Sound financial management skills with the ability to interpret and apply financial and accounting practises and procedures.
  • Sound ability to provide effective support and input into the development, implementation and monitoring of school buildings, grounds and facilities and the ability to investigate funding opportunities.
  • Sound team management and supervisory skills including the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Sound written, oral and interpersonal skills with the ability to work within a team environment and develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Well developed computer skills, including the ability to create, operate, extract reports and manipulate databases, spreadsheets and systems.

  • Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
