A wide range of staff in central and regional offices also provide key services.

Our Employee Support Bureau is seeking to appoint a highly dedicated individual to the position of Consultant Psychologist, Staff Wellbeing. This is a permanent, full-time position, commencing as soon as possible.

As the Consultant Psychologist, Staff Wellbeing, you will lead the development of innovative and evidence-based health and wellbeing programs that are consistent with Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, and implement policies, protocols, and procedures consistent with best practice industry standards for workplace physical, mental health and wellbeing.

You will require high-level project and incident management skills, including the ability to successfully implement processes, deliver outcomes, and meet challenging deadlines whilst building and maintaining strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. As the successful applicant, you will be required to represent the Department on matters related to achieving the Department’s WHS objectives and minimising and preventing health issues in the workplace.

Psychologists with general registration and a background and/or interest in the promotion of positive mental health and organisational wellbeing are encouraged to apply. Area of practice endorsement is not a requirement for this position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  1. Substantial experience in developing, implementing and evaluating health and wellbeing programs in complex multi-disciplinary organisations.
  2. Substantial experience managing and advising on complex organisational mental health and relationship issues and updating and maintaining knowledge of health and safety best practices.
  3. Ability to develop strategies for improving leadership capability and organisational culture relating to psychological health and safety.
  4. High-level project and crisis management skills, including the ability to successfully implement processes, deliver outcomes, and meet challenging deadlines.
  5. Advanced written and verbal communication skills and ability to build, maintain and influence strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

Eligibility and Training Requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
  • hold an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA)
  • complete
    • the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
    • training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
    • the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
