Are you ready to join the dynamic team at Cannington Community College?

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly competent, and enthusiastic Humanities and Social Science (HASS) teacher. The successful applicant will ideally be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and academic achievement in a supportive environment where success is celebrated.

To be suitable for this role you should be relationship focused, display strong interpersonal skills, and be able to work both independently and within a team environment. Candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, and the wider community. The successful applicant should be a passionate teacher of HASS, with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning and the ability to build and maintain a positive learning environment where students flourish is important for our students' success.

The suitable applicant will ideally exhibit an engaging and energetic teaching style, provide educational opportunities and activities that allow students to achieve their full potential, and routinely reflect and assess your teaching practices on the effectiveness of the program. Applicants should be innovative, knowledgeable and possess thorough understanding of instructional and curriculum expertise and display the ability to develop innovative classroom practices and utilise ICT to provide integrated, personalised and authentic learning experiences for students. A key attribute is the ability to create environments conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities that are fun, purposeful, relevant and cater for differing student learning needs.

Cannington Community College is in the heart of the City of Canning business precinct, which is currently undergoing broad-scale redevelopment. It is anticipated that the College will continue to grow with the advent of extra housing development in the adjacent Coker Park area over the next few years.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
