Bannister Creek Primary School (BCPS) is seeking a highly motivated, capable, and experienced Deputy Principal to join their collaborative leadership team. This leader will enjoy working in a busy multicultural school which is an integral part of the local community. BCPS is working to engage and reflect its rich, diverse community through a broad range of communication strategies, an active School Board, P&C and Baldja Waangkiny, an Aboriginal Parent Liaison Group.

The Deputy Principal provides educational leadership in the school and community. Through the engagement and development of staff, and the implementation of evidence-based programs, they will lead teaching and learning in the Kindergarten - Year 2 area of the school, overseeing the National Quality Standard (NQS). Working in a collaborative environment, they will have experience in mentoring and supporting other learning area leaders to progress data-driven decision making. Our whole school, evidence-based teaching and learning programs ensure consistency through the years and give our students opportunities to be taught at their level and point of need.
A key component of the role is targeting the school Business Plan and the school priorities through deprivatised practice and low variability. A sound knowledge of the curriculum and the whole school programs in literacy and numeracy are essential, as well as the proven ability to lead staff in data analysis, facilitate classroom observations and feedback, and lead professional learning teams. The Deputy Principal is integral to the planning and operational aspects of the committees within the school and to building the capacity of all team members.
BCPS is focussed on high performance and high care through a school improvement agenda. The Deputy Principal leads the Student Services team and works closely in the Student Wellbeing and Behaviour Education portfolios. In addition to generic Deputy Principal duties, the successful applicant will have experience in the CARE model, the RAFT project, disability services, attendance, students at educational risk, documented plans and represent the leadership team at the Network level. Sound knowledge of the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework (ACSF), Quality Teaching Strategy (QTS), National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), NQS and experience in using Human Resources Management Information System (HRMIS), Recruitment Advertising Management System (RAMS) and Integris would be advantageous.
BCPS is an Independent public school, situated in Lynwood. Our school caters for approximately 570 students from Kindergarten to Year 6 in a beautifully planned environment that focuses on providing sustainable opportunities including a school gardening club with vegetable gardens, chickens and an outdoor classroom on site as well as Moort Boodja - a 6 Seasons Garden. We have 18 classrooms with 5 purpose-built ECE rooms, a contemporary library resource centre, specialist art and music rooms and a fully enclosed undercover area
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
