This is a permanent part-time (0.3FTE) position commencing Term 3, 2023 

South Perth Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated Teacher - English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EALD).

The role of the Teacher - English as an Additional Language/Dialect is to support students in their acquisition of Standard Australian English during the first two years of learning English. Both in-class and small group support will be provided. Also, to support teachers to differentiate the curriculum for students learning Standard Australian English and work with the school community to build a welcoming and inclusive culture towards the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) members of the school community.

South Perth PS has a positive school culture with a strong commitment from families and staff to provide a supportive learning environment for all students and a welcoming culture to all families. The school is well resourced, and teachers are supported to provide challenging and differentiated learning programs to meet the needs of all students. The school focuses on the development of the whole child and provides a wide range of extra curricula opportunities in the Arts and Physical Education.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
