About the Role
The successful applicant will ideally be highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic in the promotion of Physical Education and Health within the school. They will also be well organised, motivated and committed to developing positive relationships and high expectations for all students.
Australind SHS has a Specialist Sports and Leadership program (EXCEL) which includes students from year 7 to 10. We also run specialist programs in AFL, Soccer, Basketball and Netball in years 9 and 10.
Knowledge and competency in the Physical and Health Education component of the Western Australian (WA) Curriculum and reporting schedule is a requirement of the position. The ability to teach Senior School Physical Education Studies and/or Outdoor Education is highly desirable.

The Location and Community
The Australind community is widespread and diverse with 600 of the 1200 students attending school by bus each day from Harvey, Brunswick Junction, Binningup and a range of other localities within the Harvey Shire. In the first instance, only applicants with teaching qualifications will be considered. Where there are no suitable applicants with teaching qualifications, applicants without teaching qualifications may be considered.
We will also consider an internal secondment opportunity for permanent teachers in other locations within the Department of Education who would like to work at our school for up to three years and retain their substantive position. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
