Byford Secondary College (SC) is seeking a Dynamic and motivated Manager, Technology and Communications (MTC) to join their incredible team.
As the MTC you will be responsible for the design, planning, implementing and managing of the college’s and feeder schools’ ICT (Information Communication Technology) network and other ICT infrastructure, reporting directly to the Manager Corporate Services (MCS).
The successful applicant will administer risk management and contingency planning for data security, system backup and disaster recovery systems. They will also administer the college’s and feeder schools’ ICT networks, software licensing requirements and IT copyright obligations, in accordance with legislation and report and correct any breaches. The successful applicant will also provide high level advice on technical issues associated with network administration. They will ideally possess strong communication skills as they will be required to liaise with the Principals and MCS’s of multiple schools, on all ICT matters.
The successful applicant should possess well developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills relevant to technical support, including the ability to manage conflicting priorities and demands whilst maintaining customer service principles and practices.
Applicants with experience in managing ICT networks and projects, including strategic risk mitigation and change management are highly desirable and encouraged to apply. The successful applicant should also have well developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to lead a team, establish collaborative working relationships and work independently.
Byford SC is a newer school in Perth’s southern suburbs. We have first class facilities to support high quality teaching and learning programs in our college. Located approximately 30 kilometres from the Perth CBD, our College caters for 1500 students in Years 7 through to 12. We offer a unique setting to many other metropolitan schools, with a blend of urban and rural students; this creates a vibrant mix of students and staff within the college community.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Strategic ICT planning skills and the ability to formulate recommendations consistent with business plans and priorities.
- Well developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills relevant to technical support, including the ability to manage conflicting priorities and demands whilst maintaining customer service principles and practices.
- Substantial experience in managing ICT networks and projects, including strategic risk mitigation and change management.
- Knowledge of software licensing and IT copyright obligations and regulations.
- Well developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to lead a team, establish collaborative working relationships and work independently.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within 3 months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within 6 months of appointment
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
