Joseph Banks Secondary College (SC) is seeking to establish a pool of highly engaging Mathematics Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2024.

Joseph Banks SC is seeking passionate and dedicated educators, highly motivated to work in a collaborative team environment. They should provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experience to develop their understanding and appreciation of Mathematics.

The suitable applicants will ideally have high expectations, display a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive and engaging classroom-learning environment. You will also ideally be able to display an ability to work as a collaborative team member and you should be committed to the development of strong professional learning communities focussed on student achievement and success. You should be able to display an ability to assist the school in achieving a "culture of curiosity."

As a Mathematics Teacher you will participate as an integral member of the Mathematics learning area and should be responsible for supporting the collaborative approach to curriculum planning, providing learning programs to students suited to the needs of the school community and modelling exemplary teaching and learning strategies in your delivery. As such, suitable applicants will ideally possess a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students, ideally having knowledge of and experience in, a range of instructional strategies and tactics. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment will be well regarded as well as a willingness to engage in professional learning and liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks.

Suitable applicants will also ideally be dedicated and a highly motivated educator with an excellent knowledge of the Senior School Western Australian Curriculum, be able to deliver content in an engaging manner and be a highly effective team member. Strong knowledge and skills in the delivery of one or more Senior Secondary courses is highly desirable. As a reflective practitioner, you will ideally possess effective data literacy and a capacity to modify their practice to meet identified student needs. Suitable applicants should also have a strong working knowledge of teaching strategies to support numeracy skills development and strong performance in National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment. Strong knowledge and skills in the effective integration of innovative and engaging Information Communications Technologies and cooperative learning instructional strategies is highly desirable.

Joseph Banks SC is an Independent Public School in the suburb of Banksia Grove, approximately 40 kilometres from the Perth Central Business District. The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
