West Beechboro Primary School (WBPS) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Principal to join our leadership team.
Our school is enriched by the multicultural background of our families, the inclusion of students with special needs, and gifted and talented students. Our team of dedicated and experienced staff strive to maximise learning success for all students. WBPS is a renowned high achieving explicit instruction (EI) school, and we are seeking a Deputy Principal experienced in and passionate about EI.
The Deputy Principal leads Student Services, Instructional Leadership, and Coaching. They manage student attendance and engagement, undertake home visits, and liaise with our Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer and external agencies to re-engage students. The successful applicant will ideally display the highly successful West Beechboro instructional model to ensure a consistent model of lesson delivery across the school. The ability to lead Students at Educational Risk (SAER), and organise professional learning for staff and pre-service teachers in relation to providing for the holistic education of every child is highly desirable.
The management of SAER including Disability Resourcing is part of the Student Services role. The successful applicant will arrange case conferences with families and stakeholder agencies and work closely with allied staff working with high needs students. The Deputy Principal ensures our support programs are evidence based and relevant to our students.
As part of the Leadership Team, the Deputy Principal provides educational leadership in the school and community by developing and promoting the school vision and values and implementing the Business Plan. A collaborative and consultative Deputy Principal with a solution focussed innovative lens is essential on our team.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
