Joseph Banks Secondary College (SC) is seeking to establish a pool of Performing and Visual Arts Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2024.

Suitable applicants will ideally be passionate and dedicated educators, innovative practitioners, and highly motivated to work in a collaborative team environment. They should provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experience to develop their skills, knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Drama.

Suitable applicants should have the ability to provide high quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students. Applicants should have an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and able to teach students of varying ability levels across Year 7 – 12 in a highly engaging manner. Strong knowledge and skills in the delivery of Senior Secondary Drama courses is highly desirable.

Joseph Banks SC has a well-established Creative and Performing Arts Academy for students. The Academy provides students with the opportunity to develop a passion for an Arts context throughout the year and to increase their understanding of other Arts contexts, through engaging with the diverse number of Arts courses the college provides.

Suitable applicants will ideally possess a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students, ideally having knowledge of and experience in, a range of instructional strategies and tactics. The College has state of the art facilities and equipment and offers a wide variety of courses from Years 7-12 in the Drama context.

Suitable applicants will ideally be teachers who engage their students and challenge them to achieve their personal best through innovative learning opportunities and who are able to teach students of varying ability levels, differentiating the curriculum, in a highly engaging manner. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment will be well regarded as well as a willingness to engage in professional learning and liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks.

Joseph Banks SC is an Independent Public School in the suburb of Banksia Grove, approximately 40 kilometres from the Perth CBD. We serve students from surrounding suburbs including Carramar and Tapping.   • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
