Bob Hawke College is seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Business Support Officer who shows initiative and is able to work independently as well as collaboratively within an innovative team.
The Business Support Officer undertakes administrative roles across the six corporate functions of the College which are essential to deliver high quality education. A well-rounded experience is desirable, and the successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop skills across the breadth of the criteria through a personalised development and growth strategy and varied role distribution. With your keen attention to detail and a willingness to be flexible you will work alongside the Manager Corporate Services to administer the College financial, human, and physical resources.
This role will initially be focused on the maintenance and replacement of the College’s physical assets with a view to incorporating the human resource areas of the College operations including coordination of casual staff, HRMIS data input and induction of staff in 2024. The successful applicant should ideally have excellent interpersonal skills to continue to develop relationships across the College Community, internally and externally.
Your ability to effectively prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure with high level accuracy and attention to detail will ensure accurate and timely processing of a range of financial functions including preparation and monitoring of budgets and developing and maintaining relevant business information management systems. In this role you will be required to support the Manager Corporate Services in undertaking financial planning, monitoring, research, reporting and analysis to meet established objectives and outcomes relative to business needs and plans. As a College that utilises technology to enhance service delivery of business operations, experience in using spreadsheets and other business and school management software will be highly regarded.

Bob Hawke College in Subiaco opened in February 2020 to more than 250 Year 7 students and is the first high density public secondary college in Western Australia. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Considerable experience providing input and effective support to the development, management, implementation and monitoring of business operations, systems, and plans.
- Well-developed financial management skills, including data analysis, interpretation and reporting, and the ability to provide recommendations.
- Sound human resource management knowledge and skills, including the ability to provide effective support and input into the development, implementation and monitoring of human resource management systems and processes.
- Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Sound conceptual, analytical, and problem solving skills and the ability to identify appropriate solutions.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness course.
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
