Wattleup East Primary School (PS) (planning name) is seeking to establish a pool of Kindergarten to Year 6 (K-6) Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year, up to the end of Term 3, 2024.

We are looking for teachers who bring out the best in their students, are passionate about teaching, actively contribute to a positive school culture, work collaboratively to ensure consistent practice, have a sense of humour and find joy in their work, are committed and dedicated to opening a new school.

We believe that highly effective pedagogies based on research and science provide the best opportunities for our students to be successful learners. Our students will be highly engaged and motivated, developing a love of learning through mastery and success. Teaching will be engaging, relevant and based on evidence to ensure all students make continual progress. Teachers will work collaboratively to ensure consistent approaches are implemented school-wide and instructional decisions are informed by collective student improvement data.

Our Pedagogical Framework will be based on the Teaching for Impact Tool; explicitly teaching core skills, practicing them, and applying them to deeper learning.  We will privilege the Explicit Direct Instruction model (Ybarra and Hollingsworth).  We are looking for teachers who are open to coaching, observation, and feedback. We will implement whole school programs to ensure consistency of teaching and learning. Such programs may include, Spelling Mastery, InitiaLit and Whole Class Reading. Suitable applicants will ideally be highly motivated, student and relationship focused and dedicated to improving the outcomes of all students. 

The ability to utilise outstanding communication skills and strong leadership within the classroom to create an environment in which high functioning students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) can thrive within a supportive mainstream setting, would be highly advantageous to this role.

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and

  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
