Safety Bay Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Science Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2024.

We are seeking talented, collaborative and flexible Science Teachers, highly proficient in engaging and motivating students, whilst supporting the school’s priorities and business plan.  

Suitable applicants will ideally self-reflect and assess the effectiveness of their teaching practice, promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. With effective interpersonal skills, you will work closely with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.

Safety Bay SHS offers Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) Physics, Chemistry and Human Biology as well as General Biology courses, with extremely high standards and expectations placed on students. Our lower school programs look to develop a love of the Sciences and look to prepare student wo investigate and become highly inquisitive individuals.

With an interest in working with young people, suitable applicants should have a positive attitude and willingness to work with like-minded people. You will foster a love of learning in your students whilst engaging in ongoing professional learning opportunities.

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
