About the position
The Network Support Officer is responsible for providing front-line support to staff and students; using their excellent knowledge of the computer network, programs and platforms to manage the day-to-day operations of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) devices. They will provide support, advice and issue resolution – making use of an internal ticketing system to track/solve problems. The suitable applicants will analyse network and system performance; proposing innovative solutions to maximise both educational and administrative outcomes.
Armadale Senior High School (SHS) invests heavily in a wide range of hardware to support student learning; including iPads, laptops, desktop computers and specialised equipment such as 3D printers and robotic tools. Experience with the management of these devices - including the use of SSS, JAMF Schools, Tier 3 server management and Papercut would be considered as advantageous. Further, the Network Support Officer is responsible for developing user training programs aimed at increasing staff capacity. This includes preparing and distributing procedures and protocols pertaining to the resolution of specified issues.
As the Network Support Officer, the successful applicants will use their strong interpersonal skills and technical capacity to support a diverse range of individuals. At times, the Network Support Officer may liaise with the Department of Education Customer Service Centre and external Panel Integrators to resolve software and network related issues. Armadale SHS hosts the co-located Armadale Education Support Centre, and the Armadale Full Service School. The Network Support Officer should be able to work across these unique teams – using their effective customer service skills to build strong working relationships and maximise outcomes for staff and students. This includes communicating effectively to support a diverse range of individuals.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Knowledge of network systems and platforms relevant to the operating environment.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills relevant to the operational maintenance of Information Technology networks.
- Organisational skills, including the ability to plan and implement data security procedures.
- Verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external clients.
- Practical experience in developing and implementing user-training procedures.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment;
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
