This is a thirty (30) month fixed term, full-time position commencing ASAP
The Department of Education is the WA public sector’s largest employer, with over 55,000 staff across the state delivering quality education to over 320,000 students.
We are seeking a committed and innovative individual to fill the role of Principal Program Director and lead Program Kaartdijin (the Program).
Program Kaartdijin’s scope is to replace the current School Information System (SIS) with a contemporary product/s that will enable a more effective approach to student administration, school administration, timetabling and finance across all Public Schools in Western Australia.
The program is entering the next phase of build and test prior to deployment across Western Australian schools from 2024. As Principal Program Director you will oversee the test and build, and implementation of the program.
You will also provide quality strategic advice to inform the governance of the program. Governance exists through a program board, program control group and a range of advisory group. The program also reports to the Department’s Corporate Executive, Risk and Assurance Committees and external assurance providers.
The successful applicant will possess highly effective communication skills that will allow them to work collaboratively and to establish and maintain effective partnerships and networks with both internal and external stakeholders.
The success of the program relies on the program director being able to negotiate and work with the Department’s ICT Department and other down stream users of the school information system. Program Kaartdijin will enable schools to meet their legislative requirements for enrolment, attendance and financial management.
Experience in leading large-scale business projects is an essential for this role. Due to the classification of this role as an Education Act Position applicants must be eligible for registration with the Teachers Registration Board of Western Australia.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- complete
- the Department’s induction program within 3 months of commencement;
- the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement
- any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within 6 months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
