Willetton Senior High School (SHS) are seeking to establish a pool of dedicated and enthusiastic Home Economics teachers.  Appointments may be to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year. and up to the end of Term 1, 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2024.

An ability to teach across all year levels from Years 7 to 12 including Certificate II in Hospitality and Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) Food Science and Technologies is desirable. 

We are looking for proactive, intelligent and passionate teachers who are able to effectively teach across Technologies Food/Textiles programs. The ability to teach across other technologies would be advantageous. Suitable applicants will ideally have high expectations, display a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive classroom learning environment. Ideally, applicants will be flexible and adaptive teachers, able to apply the strategies of differentiated instruction and explicit teaching.

As a highly effective educator you will ideally need to possess an excellent understanding of the Western Australian curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements in lower school and the current senior school courses. This knowledge, combined with pedagogical skills enables the development of programs differentiated for the specific learning needs of all students across the full range of abilities.

Suitable applicants will ideally possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills which will be used to develop and promote the school’s values, ethos and priorities across the school community. They will build positive relationships with their students and be passionate about creating positive futures for students. Willetton SHS is one of the largest schools in Western Australia, drawing its student enrolment from diverse geographic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. With a student population in excess of 2700 and approximately 230 teaching staff and 120 support staff on campus the school is inclusive and comprehensive providing courses for Years 7 to 12.
