This is a permanent part-time (0.4FTE) position commencing Term 3, 2023

Governor Stirling Senior High School (SHS) are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable professional to fill the role of Teacher/Coordinator – Learning Support at our school.

The successful applicant should have a passion for addressing the learning needs of students, accompanied by a strong knowledge of, and ability to work with, students with learning disabilities and difficulties and be able to structure appropriate interventions. You should possess the ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders as well as to develop and maintain clear processes for identifying meeting and monitoring student needs.

As the successful applicant, you should be responsible for the development of plans, programs, and reports to support students with diagnosed and imputed learning needs across all year groups. You will work alongside the school’s Lead Education Assistant, School Psychologist and Literacy and Numeracy Coordinators and support teachers to plan for and deliver targeted teaching strategies for identified students. The position will initially start at 0.4 and may increase to meet the needs of the school. This could also include a small teaching role.

Governor Stirling SHS is situated on the banks of the Swan River in Woodbridge and offers the Department of Education Gifted and Talented Academic Program, a range of academic and Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs and approved Specialist Programs in Engineering, Arts, Media and AFL Football. The school has a strong student services team including specialist staff that offer strong support to Aboriginal students. Governor Stirling SHS prepares students for life after high school with many options for academic and vocational pathways.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
