This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 3, 2023 

Cyril Jackson Senior Campus Education Support Centre (ESC) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Workplace Learning Coordinator to join their friendly team.

Cyril Jackson Senior Campus ESC (CJSC ESC) is a dynamic place which provides educational opportunities for young adults in Years 10 to 13.  The school’s curriculum is highly specialised and aligns with effective contemporary pedagogy for students who are neurodiverse learners. Our curriculum focuses on developing functional literacy and numeracy, communication and social and emotional skills. We work in partnership with our families, service providers and other stakeholders to ensure success for all students.  We have a well-established reputation for excellence and leadership in educating students with disabilities and providing a welcoming and respectful learning environment. 

The Workplace Learning Program is the main focus for many of our students as they work towards creating meaningful employment pathways post school.

In this role you will coordinate Vocational Education and Training (VET)/ Work Place Learning (WPL) operations, managing a team to induct students successfully into the program. Locating industry placements and ensuring collaborative and positive partnerships with employers, you will assist in developing and introducing systems and strategies that provide a responsive and effective WPL program.

Effective planning and organisational skills would be beneficial to this role as the successful applicant will be required to administer records and databases using a variety of software packages and assist in the planning and sustainability of work placements.

The successful applicant will also provide advice and communicate with the school community and parents to ensure suitable post school outcomes for students. Liaising with key stakeholders, the Workplace Coordinator will track student attendance, extra support needs and behavioural issues. The Workplace Coordinator will also coordinate parent information sessions and support in student transition meetings to ensure positive outcomes for all students.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Knowledge of Vocational Education and Training and Workplace Learning programs and the ability to facilitate school/industry partnerships.
  • Well developed keyboarding and computer skills, including a working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Well developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Well developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team environment.
