This is a six (6) month fixed term part-time (0.8FTE) position commencing Term 3, 2023, with possible extension (12 months) and/or permanency. 

Byford Secondary College (SC) is seeking a highly professional, passionate and innovative Teacher – Performing Arts to join our collaborative and innovative Arts team.

The successful applicant should be dedicated to planning and delivering high quality teaching programs that promote student engagement and achievement in the Arts area. Collaborating with others in a supportive environment is a focus in our department for both staff and students.

You will ideally have contemporary arts knowledge and an excellent understanding of the Years 7 to 10 WA Arts Curriculum. You should be able to work across Dance, Drama or Music. There is flexibility in the delivery of this content according to your specialist area, along with the opportunity to work collaboratively with our staff and other Arts context areas to deliver rich, engaging tasks. Therefore, candidates who also have Visual Art or Media Arts teaching experience will be highly regarded.

Byford SC is a newer school in Perth’s southern suburbs. We have first class facilities to support high quality teaching and learning programs in our college. We have a state of the art Arts facility, including a theatre space with a biobox, Dance studio, Music rehearsal space and teaching facilities, TV studios and excellent Visual Art facilities.

Located approximately 30 kilometres from the Perth CBD, our College caters for 1500 students in Years 7 through to 12. We offer a unique setting to many other metropolitan schools, with a blend of urban and rural students; this creates a vibrant mix of students and staff within the college community.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
