This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2023

Halls Head College (HHC) is seeking an enthusiastic English Teacher to join their dynamic team on a permanent basis.

The successful applicant will ideally display effective interpersonal skills and the fostering of positive relationships with students, staff, and the wider community. As a teacher at HHC, you should be highly effective in engaging and motivating students through the creation of effective safe learning environments and possess the ability to effectively implement the College’s PBS (Positive Behaviour Schools) Behaviour Matrix and behaviour management flowchart.

The successful applicant will support the English Learning Area team to strategically meet the learning needs of all our students studying the English curriculum, including students with disabilities and special needs. You will utilise evidence-based teaching practices to plan and implement differentiated activities that are purposeful and relevant for student support and extension.

The successful applicant will also work closely with our Student Services Team and/or external agencies ensuring all students experience success. A range of assessment and reporting methods which provide a variety of opportunities for our students to learn and display their knowledge should also be employed.

Experience and a passion for teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) English to Years 11 and 12 would be highly sought after. HHC offers an extensive ATAR selection of courses across Learning Areas and is therefore seeking further expertise in ATAR English to complement their team of educators. Teachers with academic extension experience to ensure appropriate rigour, relevance and engagement is scaffolded throughout the courses is highly desirable.

HHC is uniquely situated on the 'island' of Halls Head just south of Mandurah. The local intake area is south, close to the Waroona Shire boundary. The contributory primary schools are Glencoe, Halls Head, Falcon, South Halls Head and Ocean Road. The College provides a secondary education for students who live in the rapidly growing coastal strip, south of Mandurah.

Our College offers all students diverse choices, authentic opportunities to develop essential life skills and a rigorous, caring and safe environment to learn and grow in. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
