Cyril Jackson Senior Campus Education Support Centre (ESC) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Placement Liaison Officer to join their friendly team.
Cyril Jackson Senior Campus ESC (CJSC ESC) is a dynamic place which provides educational opportunities for young adults in Years 10 to 13. The school’s curriculum is highly specialised and aligns with effective contemporary pedagogy for students who are neurodiverse learners. Our curriculum focuses on developing functional literacy and numeracy, communication and social and emotional skills. We work in partnership with our families, service providers and other stakeholders to ensure success for all students. We have a well-established reputation for excellence and leadership in educating students with disabilities and providing a welcoming and respectful learning environment.
The Workplace Learning Program is the main focus for many of our students as they work towards creating a meaningful future where they are active members of their communities post school.
In this role you will assist in the placement and monitoring of students in workplace learning programs. You will liaise with employers and support the WPL Coordinator to carry out workplace site visits, carrying out health and safety checks and developing industry/community links. You will liaise with multiple stakeholders to ensure the effective management of placements, therefore strong communication and interpersonal skills are highly regarded for this role.
Effective planning and organisational skills would be beneficial to this role as the successful applicant will be required to administer records and databases using a variety of software packages and assist in the planning and sustainability of work placements. Maintaining confidentiality of WPL documentation and under the direction of the WPL Coordinator, you will undertake processes relating to workplace site accidents and incidents as they occur
The successful applicant will also provide advice and communicate with the school community and parents to ensure suitable post school outcomes for students. Assisting in the organisation of parent information sessions and supporting in student transition meetings under the direction of the WPL Coordinator is a requirement of this role.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including application of customer service principles and practices.
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.
- Ability in using computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Effective planning and organisational skills and experience in providing administrative support.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- hold a current ‘C’ or ‘C.A.’ class driver’s licence.
- hold or obtain a valid White Card.
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
