Nedlands Primary School (PS) is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Digital Technologies teacher to join our team. We are committed to excellence in teaching and learning and are seeking a like-minded teacher who has a passion for teaching primary students.

The successful applicant will be an active contributor to the Technologies learning area, who will strive to engage students with an interesting and challenging Digital Technologies curriculum, preparing them for future pathways and careers in the digital world.

You should possess a sound understanding of the Digital Technologies curriculum and courses, as well as the ability to use high impact learning strategies to successfully engage students. The ability to differentiate curriculum and implement innovative approaches to improve outcomes for both high and low achieving students is a key element to this position. You will build positive relationships with your students and be passionate about creating positive futures for students and utilise evidence-based decision-making skills within your practice.

As the successful applicant you will take an active role in our school community, coordinating school activities, clubs and digital technologies competitions. Nedlands Primary School is a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device Year 4-6) school and operates with 1-1 iPads in Year 4-6. Experience with Apple and iPad skills to facilitate professional learning other staff members with technology is preferable.

Nedlands PS is located in Nedlands about 5kms from the CBD. Our school is walking distance from Kings Park, Matilda Bay and the University of Western Australia. Nedlands is a beautiful school with heritage buildings surrounded by native trees. The playgrounds and sporting facilities are expansive and include a 25-metre swimming pool, a shared school and community resource.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.

TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
