Willetton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Program Coordinator - Learning Curriculum Support to join their team.

The Curriculum and Learning Support - Program Coordinator is a member of the School Leadership team and will be responsible for creating a whole school approach which ensures we maintain inclusive practices that support the learning journey of all students at Willetton SHS.

They will ideally be experienced in supporting teachers and education assistants to deliver evidence-based, best practice programs to enhance student outcomes from entry in Year 7 through to Year 12, as they transition into the workplace or further study. 

The Program Coordinator – Learning and Curriculum Support should possess the ability to design and implement staff training in evidence based practices for supporting learners with complex disabilities, medical and social-emotional needs. With the commitment and desire to create and sustain a student-centred learning environment, you will work with all Curriculum Leaders to strategically meet the learning needs of all students, including students with disabilities. 

Effective coordination and leadership of complex case management is central to this position. You should display a high level of understanding of the case management of students that includes knowledge of effective intervention, monitoring and reporting strategies.

The successful applicant should possess the ability to provide direction and purpose to staff, build team capacity and cohesion and promote an environment of positive quality learning experiences for all students. They will act as a liaison with staff, parents, and external agencies. Knowledge and application of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will be highly regarded.

The successful applicant will ideally possess leadership in the development of curriculum designed to meet diverse student needs, including a range of Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN) programs, Abilities Based Learning Education Western Australia (ABLEWA) curriculum, Vocational Education and Training Pathways, Western Australian Curriculum and WACE (Western Australian Certificate of Education) Courses of Study.

You will facilitate teaching and learning outcomes through effective transition and classroom planning, performance management, modelling and promoting a culture of success. Furthermore, you will manage administrative systems and data collection in order to ensure the effective operation of the Learning and Curriculum Support area in accordance with legislative and industrial policy and guidelines. Resource management through effective budgeting, human resource management, applying for Disability Resources and Services (DRS) funding and ongoing data collection are also integral to this position.

The successful applicant will ideally have well developed communication skills in order to work closely with a range of staff including NDIS health professionals and outside agencies at the school level to collaboratively seek positive student outcomes and family support. To this end, you should have the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, teachers, families and community members.

You should be able to display excellence as a dedicated, self-reflective and progressive classroom practitioner, ideally with experience in teaching students with a range of educational needs. You should also have effective teaching, learning, assessment and behaviour management practices and ideally, experience working with students and families in a culturally responsive environment.

Furthermore, you will ideally have knowledge and expertise in Reporting to Parents – Special Educational Needs (RTP-SEN) Planning, Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD), ABLEWA Assessment, Education Support classroom planning and documented plans.

A deep understanding of the role of Learning and Curriculum Support would be highly desirable in order to collaborate with the executive team to set strategic directions. The ability to understand the wider school context and constructively work with the senior leadership team to achieve broader school objectives would be key to this role.

Willetton SHS is one of the largest schools in Western Australia, drawing its student enrolment from diverse geographic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. With a student population in excess of 2750 and approximately 230 teaching staff and 120 support staff on campus the school is inclusive and comprehensive providing courses for Years 7 to 12. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy.   • Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.
