This is a six (6) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 3, 2023

The School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) are seeking a culturally responsive and aware, motivated and enthusiastic Human Resource (HR) Officer to join their friendly team.

The HR Officer will provide advice and support in the coordination of human resource activities and operations. This will include managing job vacancies, including the coordination of deployment, recruitment, selection and appointment processes. You will coordinate leave and relief management; coordinate the Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS), process relief payments and assist in the implementation of staff inductions, probation, compliance with Working with Children (WWC), The Teacher Registration Board (TRB) and on-line professional learning as well as providing human resource advice and information to staff.

The successful applicant will ideally have sound written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, will be highly organised, have the ability to solve problems and meet deadlines.

SIDE is the main centre for Kindergarten to Year 12 distance education and online learning within Western Australian Department of Education and also delivers vocational education and training (VET) programs as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). SIDE provides quality education for students who for various reasons cannot attend classes in a regular school.

SIDE’s main campus is in Leederville with teaching delivery suites at Canning College, Clarkson Community High School, Northlake Senior Campus and Churchlands Specialist program.  Suitable applicants may be required to work from any site as the need arises.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Ability to provide effective support and input into the development, implementation and monitoring of human resource management systems and processes.
  • Sound written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with staff and work within a team environment.
  • Sound knowledge and skills in human resource management, including research, planning and recruitment practices.
  • Conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to implement appropriate strategies.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Employees will be required to:

  • Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
  • Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
