Ocean Reef Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a Health and Physical Education (HPE) Teacher who specialises in Outdoor Education to join their team.

The successful applicant will ideally be a passionate and dedicated educator, highly motivated to work in a collaborative team environment. You will provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experience to develop their skills, knowledge, and understandings related to HPE, supported by a variety of approaches to learning. Experience teaching Outdoor Education is highly desirable.

The successful applicant will ideally be student and relationship focused, enthusiastic, innovative, and motivated with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. As part of a dedicated team, you will be required to develop, review, and deliver HPE curriculum. You should engage in ongoing self-reflection and assess the effectiveness of practice to create environment conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities that are purposeful and relevant, catering for different student learning needs.

The successful applicant will ideally possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to provide engaging, relevant, and meaningful learning. You will ideally be innovative, knowledgeable, and possess thorough understandings of instructional and curriculum expertise whilst keeping abreast of the latest developments within the Learning Area. You should have high expectations, display a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies, and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive and engaging classroom-learning environment.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
