Mount Lawley Primary School (PS) is seeking a highly motivated School Psychologist with a passion for supporting the whole child to achieve to their potential.
The successful applicant will join a community of motivated educators, collaborating closely with staff and members of the Student Services team. As the successful applicant, you will provide specialist psychological assessment, diagnosis, evidence-based intervention as well as consultation at the individual, group, whole school and system level. Services will be provided in the areas of mental health and wellbeing, behaviour support and intervention, learning and motivation, emergency and critical incident management, risk assessment, as well as professional learning for school staff, parents and caregivers.
The School Psychologist will be responsible for supporting staff and parents to put in place effective strategies that support the mental health and wellbeing, learning and behaviour of students to improve school engagement. The successful applicant will ideally possess experience and knowledge in building staff capacity through professional learning, and the necessary skills to collaborate with teachers, sharing expert professional judgements and opinions. We are looking for an applicant who is adaptable, resilient and resourceful; is able to develop and maintain positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders and consult widely; and is able to work effectively as both part of a team and independently and proactively when required.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Ability to implement school psychology services and programs in an educational environment to maximise student learning outcomes.
- Knowledge of the implementation and evaluation of a variety of psychological approaches appropriate for individual, group and system-level intervention.
- High level written and oral communication skills, demonstrating the capacity to produce correspondence, reports and case notes, and interview and training (facilitation) skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, which demonstrate an ability to function in a self-directed way, and as a member of an interdisciplinary team, working with a range of clients across the lifespan, Department personnel and inter-agency partners across a variety of contexts.
- Ability to apply analytical and conceptual skills to issues identification, risk assessment and analysis, intervention and evaluation.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- hold or be eligible for provisional or general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
