Appointment Pool
John Forrest Secondary College (SC) is seeking to establish a pool of English Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2024.
Suitable applicants should have a focus on high performance and high care for all students. You should have a thorough knowledge of the English curriculum in Years 7 - 12 and be able to engage students in their learning. The ability to teach Australian Tertiary Admission Rank English and Literature courses and to deliver the Seven Steps writing program, while not essential, would be highly beneficial. You should promote active learning and provide activities that enable students at all levels to achieve their potential. You will ideally have a focus on forming positive working relationships with students and engage with parents to assist student learning.
Strong interpersonal skills, enabling you to work effectively in a large collaborative and supportive team environment, would be beneficial. Suitable applicants will be joining a progressive and enthusiastic team of teachers who are engaged in implementing a whole-school approach to education. You should have the capacity to engage in curriculum development and to meet the needs of students using evidence-based practice. A sound knowledge of how data analysis can inform teaching practices is highly regarded.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
