Beckenham Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of K-6 Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year, up to the end of Term 4, 2024.

Applicants are asked to indicate their preferred work fraction from 0.2 to full-time.

High expectations will be placed on suitable applicants, who will work in a highly collaborative environment, designed to support the implementation of agreed whole school approaches. Staff at Beckenham Primary School are committed to continuous self-improvement, operating in a working environment characterised by a strong commitment to professional learning; working in supportive year level and curriculum teams.

Appointments will be made to classroom teaching and specialist teaching roles. Beckenham Primary School currently offers LOTE (Languages other than English), Science, Music, Design and Technology and PE (Physical Education). You may wish to tailor your application to a particular role.

Suitable applicants will ideally have the following abilities:

  • Interpersonal skills that help to create valuable relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Display an understanding and experiences with effective explicit instruction skills in teaching literacy and numeracy content and shifting it from short to long term memory using such strategies as “Warm-up” or “Daily Review”
  • Experience in working with whole-school approaches that promote the science of reading.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional growth and willingness to engage in opportunities to develop these skills and knowledge through observations, coaching and feedback.
  • Proactive behaviour-shaping strategies that support student engagement to enable positive student outcomes in and out of the classroom.
  • An interest or experience with working with students from a myriad of cultures (inclusive our First Nation’s culture) and an ability to exhibit their knowledge and skills in working with EAL/D (English as a Second Language/Dialect) learners.
  • A passionate and caring teacher that puts students at the forefront of everything they do.

We are dedicated to the use of iPads in all classrooms and educators in Years 4 - 6 work effectively in the school's BYOD (Bring your own device) program, where all students purchase, or are supplied with, their own iPad which they use to enhance their learning capabilities.   • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
