Appointment Pool
Carine Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated English Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2024.
The successful applicant will ideally be a passionate and dedicated educator, highly motivated to work in a collaborative team environment. They will provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experience to develop their skills, knowledge, and understandings related to English, supported by a variety of approaches to learning.
The successful applicant should be student and relationship focused, enthusiastic, innovative, and motivated with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. As part of a dedicated team, you will be required to develop, review, and deliver English curriculum. You should engage in ongoing self-reflection and assess the effectiveness of practice to create environment conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities that are purposeful and relevant, catering for different student learning needs.
The successful applicant will ideally possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to provide engaging, relevant, and meaningful learning. You will ideally be innovative, knowledgeable, and possess thorough understandings of instructional and curriculum expertise whilst keeping abreast of the latest developments within the Learning Area. You should have high expectations, display a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies, and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive and engaging classroom-learning environment. As teachers at our school, you should have strengths in working in a dynamic, multi-contextual and collaborative team. Desirable skills may include the ability to differentiate instruction, develop students’ capacity to problem solve and critically think and use instructional strategies effectively.
You will ideally be able to display an ability to work as a collaborative team member and be committed to the development of strong professional learning communities focussed on student achievement and success.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
