This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2023 

Safety Bay Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated, talented and innovative Mathematics Teacher, highly proficient in engaging and motivating students, whilst supporting the School’s priorities and business plan. There is also an option of an immediate start for the successful applicant. 

We are looking for passionate teachers who have high expectations, possess a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive classroom learning environment.

The successful applicant should be a flexible and adaptive teacher, able to apply Explicit Instruction and use evidence based High Impact Instructional Strategies. We have had a recent focus on “Back to Front Math” and teachers with experience in these strategies are encouraged to apply. We welcome applications from experienced Mathematics Teachers as well as Graduate Teachers.

As a Mathematics teacher in our school, you will work in our supportive and collegiate Mathematics Learning Team. The expectation is that you will teach Mathematics from Years 7 to 12. Applicants should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills which will be used to develop and promote the school’s values, vision and priorities across the school community.

You should build positive relationships with your students and be passionate about creating positive pathways for students, ensuring we share our stories, the Safety Bay Way.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
