Appointment Pool
Workforce Management is seeking to establish a pool of experienced Senior HR Consultants for appointments to fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2023 and up to the end of 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within 2023 up to the end of 2024.
The Role and our Branch
The Workforce Management Branch provides a human resource management consultancy service to schools and central services. Activities include:
- full scope HRM consultancy, including advice on compliance and audit matters
- maintaining and developing JDFs
- providing advice and support on job design and job classification
- executive support to the Classification Review Committee
- change management support
- maintenance of organisational charts
- administration of senior executive job descriptions, contracts and appointments
- promoting and supporting best HRM practice

The successful applicants will provide comprehensive human resource consultancy and advice to Schools, Central and Regional Offices on strategic and operational human resource management issues. Solutions focused lateral thinkers with a strong work ethic and the ability to conceptualise innovative solutions to multifaceted problems are sought. Having a good understanding of contemporary human resource management practices; current and emerging digital HR trends will make you effective in this dynamic role. You will be part of a small vibrant team of HR consultants who operate collaboratively and independently.

Your written application will be assessed against the following Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated well developed knowledge of and experience with the legislative framework and policies that impact on human resource management relevant to the public sector.
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge, skills and practice in human resource management including research, planning and presentation skills and capacity to develop and deliver human resource training.
- Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills that demonstrate the ability to provide an effective consultancy service and influence results.
- Demonstrated highly developed written communication skills in a human resource context.
- Demonstrated well developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills strategically applied to human resource legislation, policies and practice.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- complete
- the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
