Ocean Reef Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an experienced, innovative, and dedicated Digital Technologies teacher to further develop a culture of excellence in teaching and learning within Technologies.
To be successful in this role, applicants will ideally demonstrate the necessary knowledge, skills and understanding to teach digital technologies subjects to Year 12 level. The successful applicant will ideally have recent experience teaching general units in Computer Science. Applicants should have the ability to thoroughly implement the requirements of the West Australian Curriculum in Digital Technologies for Years 7 to 10. Other teaching subjects within Technologies may include lower school Product Design.
The school currently has a strong foundation in innovative programs within lower school including Virtual Reality (VR), coding and game design. This has led to the introduction of General Computer Science for delivery in 2024. Applicants with experience and/or interest in participating in cross curricular Science, Technologies, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives would be advantageous. There will also be opportunity to actively develop the new E-Sports Club and compete with other schools.
The successful applicant will ideally have effective interpersonal skills and the ability to foster positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including students, staff, and community members. You will engage in reflective practice and should be committed to whole-school pedagogical approaches. Effective classroom management, the ability to differentiate curriculum to cater for individual student needs and promote an environment of active and positive learning are also a strong focus for the position.
The successful applicant will ideally support the implementation of the school business plan, be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives and have a strong evidenced based teaching approach.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
