Perth Modern School is seeking to appoint a Gifted and Talented Science Teacher to their teaching team.
Perth Modern School is seeking an innovative teacher, ideally with experience in teaching Science, preferably Physics, from Years 7 to 12 Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), who are student-focused and have strong interpersonal skills, while working collaboratively in a team environment. It is desirable for applicants to hold a major qualification in their nominated domain. The successful applicant will be joining a progressive and enthusiastic team of teachers who are engaged in implementing a whole school gifted and talented approach to the educational programs offered in the school.
Our teachers are committed to supporting the social and emotional development of gifted students through our Advocacy Program. Additionally, highly able students require co-curricular, extension, enrichment and competition opportunities and all Perth Modern School teachers are expected to engage with this.
Perth Modern School is Western Australia's only fully academically selective school for gifted students in Years 7 to 12. Centrally located in Subiaco, the School provides a differentiated and compacted curriculum that develops the individual skills and abilities of academically gifted students. Teachers are expected to provide extension and enrichment so our high ability students are continually engaged and challenged. Teachers will also support the social and emotional wellbeing of gifted students through the comprehensive Advocacy program.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
