Ideally, we are looking for a candidate who has a flexible approach to their working day and who will embrace the opportunity to work within a variety of school environments. IMSS employs dedicated instrumental teachers who are passionate in their chosen field. There is a particularly close collegial relationship amongst staff that allows for significant professional growth as a teacher and musician. The successful applicant should possess the ability to make connections with colleagues and be proactive in providing enhanced learning opportunities for students.
To be successful in this role you should have current knowledge of the WA Curriculum – Music and be prepared to implement this in your teaching as required by IMSS. You will be required to develop knowledge of the IMSS Brass programs and assessment tasks, along with the current assessment guidelines mandated by IMSS. You should demonstrate a willingness to integrate and to collaborate with all year level classroom teachers.
Our services enhance student learning in music through the provision of instrumental music tuition in schools and school clusters, offering music as part of their curriculum provision in the Arts learning area. The primary function of the Brass Teacher is to provide a quality music education to students through tuition that embraces the principles of the WA Curriculum.
IMSS currently has more than 315 teaching staff who work in over 460 metropolitan and country primary and secondary schools, providing instrumental instruction to approximately 20,000 students from Years 3 to 12. In addition to weekly small group instrumental lessons, students have opportunities to participate in enrichment music activities which combine students working collaboratively across year levels and with students from other schools.
