 This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2023.

Malibu School is seeking to appoint a dedicated and committed School Officer to join their friendly administration team.

As the School Officer, you will provide assistance with entering student enrolment data, maintain student attendance records, undertake receipting procedures, assist in the induction of staff and relief staff records and generate routine reports from the school databases.

Other responsibilities will include undertaking reception duties, including meeting and greeting visitors, answering the telephone and responding to routine enquiries and requests for information. In addition, the School Officer supports the Manager Corporate Services and the Executive Leadership Team by performing routine administration duties, maintaining the school’s facilities, assets and resources, reporting faults and organising repairs, and assisting with communication and marketing materials.

Malibu School is an Education Support school for students in Kindergarten to Year 12, with intellectual and/or physical disability, sensory impairments (vision and hearing), challenging behaviours and/or autistic spectrum disorders. Part of the South Metropolitan Education Region, the school is located in Safety Bay.

This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Experience in providing general office administrative support with ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Ability to use computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including application of customer service principles and practices.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.

  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
