The role of the Technical Support Officer is to maintain the school’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems and network, ensuring reliability and sustainability to enhance the learning environment.

The successful applicant will provide advice on technical issues and collaborate with administration to maintain and develop the network system. The successful applicant will also provide technical support and training to all users throughout the school site on various software applications and provide access to systems and resources. In this role, they will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance of information systems and ICT equipment in accordance with the school business needs and Department of Education policies and guidelines. This includes maintaining accurate records of ICT assets and resources and the development, implementation, and monitoring of a replacement plan.

The successful applicant will ideally have the ability to work as part of a versatile team, liaise with other Department of Education personnel and communicate with external providers. Experience working in a school would be highly desirable and in particular a thorough understanding of standard operating systems and their associated software. The successful applicant will work with a diverse range of people and professionals to deliver customer service. The ability to build strong relationships and to work well with key stakeholders is highly desirable.

  • Conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to develop innovative solutions to information technology problems.
  • Ability to install and maintain network systems incorporating the Internet and Electronic Mail.
  • Organisational skills to develop effective administrative practices and the initiative to work with minimum supervision.

  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
  • Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
