This is a permanent part-time (0.6FTE) position commencing Term 3, 2023 

South Lake PS is an Independent Public School located 15km south of Perth and surrounded by the Beeliar wetlands, and caters for students from Kindergarten to Years 6.

South Lake Primary School (PS) are seeking to appoint a highly dynamic, enthusiastic, Early Childhood Teacher to join our team. The successful applicant should pursue excellence in teaching, have high expectations and be a highly skilled educator with a passion for teaching and a commitment to public school education.

Articulated in the South Lake PS Independent Public School Business Plan, whole of school approaches are considered essential to improve outcomes in student learning and successful whole of school curriculum planning. It is highly desirable that the successful applicant will be able to display knowledge and extensive experience in the use of Explicit Instruction, a proven strong focus on developing the emotional health and wellbeing of students, as well as boosting positive partnerships with families and the wider community.

Knowledge, understanding and experience would be desirable in implementing: Oxford Maths/Mathletics; Talk 4 Writing; Science of Reading; Jolly Grammar; ELF & Walker Education; Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework; and PBS/CMS.

A collaborative working culture with active involvement of all staff, is a feature of the school and facilitates not only whole-school approaches to the implementation of programs and strategies but re-enforcing the culture of support, care and belonging. The successful applicant will ideally value collaborative planning in year level teams to develop consistent, quality learning programs, understand the power of assessment for differentiated learning and teaching and engage in rigorous analysis of student data, continually monitor the impact of your teaching on student learning and be willing to try new, innovative ways to engage students. The successful applicant should be a team player with highly developed interpersonal skills.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
