Willetton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a vibrant, innovative, and ideally experienced Program Coordinator – Student Services, to join our School Leadership and Student Services Team.
In collaboration with the Student Services Leadership Team, the Program Coordinator – Student Services, will provide effective leadership and coordination of student support staff and processes in the school, including practical and strategic responses to matters concerning student social and emotional wellbeing and mental health, as well as those concerned with student behaviour, student learning and transitions.
You will have a leading role in the case management of students considered at educational risk, through your knowledge of effective intervention, monitoring and reporting processes and strategies. There is an associated responsibility to establish and manage administrative and operational systems within student support to ensure the effective operation of your portfolio within the school in accordance with Department policy and guidelines. Highly developed interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with staff, students, parents, and community organisations will be most advantageous for this role.
The successful applicant will ideally have proven, and effective leadership qualities including the capacity to lead evidence-based improvements, inspire others, and build and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents and external agencies.
The implementation of intervention strategies and monitoring processes to support all students, but particularly those deemed high risk and/or managing mental health concerns will be required. You should be a leader who is focussed on supporting student success through a positive approach to student health and wellbeing. You will work closely with other members of the large and comprehensive Student Services Team to build and maintain a cohesive environment.
Willetton SHS is an inclusive and comprehensive secondary school with a growing student population currently in excess of 2700 and expected to expand to over 3000 students by 2028. The school successfully caters for the academic, social and emotional development of students with diverse educational needs including those with English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) background, special needs and gifted and talented students.
There are approximately 230 teaching staff and 120 support staff on campus. Willetton staff recognise that students are individuals with different histories, interests, abilities and aptitudes. The school is committed to the intellectual, creative and social development of the students by the provision of stimulating and relevant programs and orderly teaching and classroom practices.
The school offers a number of specialist programs to meet student needs and interests. These programs include Gifted and Talented and Specialist Basketball, and there is a strong focus on Vocation and Education Training (VET). There are numerous after school sporting teams, debating, poetry and special interest clubs. Willetton SHS prides itself on an ethos that all students should be successful.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
