Broome Senior High School is looking for a dedicated and professional Deputy Principal to join their team.

Teachers and School Administrators employed Broome Senior High School in 2023 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $7,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school. 

About the Role

The successful applicant will ideally have exceptional leadership and communication skills and work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team, particularly with Head of Learning Area’s (HoLA’s) and Deputy Principals. In this role the successful applicant will ideally be highly motivated, relationship focused and dedicated to creating a timetable and processes that provide every student with a pathway to a successful future.

Responsibilities of the Deputy Principal role includes:

  • Planning and oversight of assessment, reporting, and testing processes,
  • DoE and SCSA compliance,
  • Staffing and workforce planning in conjunction with HoLAs,
  • Planning within the Schools Resourcing System with the MCS and Principal,
  • Managing course selection processes from Year 7 to Year including course handbooks,
  • Overseeing timetable creation, grid development, maintenance, and review,
  • Managing all areas of Year 10 to Year 12 exams, including ESTs,
  • Managing all aspects of OLNA and NAPLAN, including developing processes for data analysis generation and usage,
  • Overseeing reporting setup, timelines, maintenance, SEN reports,
  • Line management and Performance development of HoLAs,
  • Delivering professional learning in any of the areas above.

The Deputy Principal will lead and manage sustainable change towards improving whole school performance in relation to effective teaching and instructional practice. The successful applicant will assist the school Principal to facilitate workforce effectiveness in leading and motivating staff in planning directed at improving educational outcomes for students within the classroom.

The successful applicant will ideally have strong interpersonal and leadership skills, contributing positively to the school's collaborative culture, vision, and strategic direction. They will play a key role within the Broome IPS Cluster, coordinating the organizing committee for the annual Broome Cluster Conference. The ideal candidate will be culturally responsive, committed and well-organized and have strong emotional intelligence.

The successful applicant will require a high level of understanding of school and departmental operations, reporting systems, HRMIS, system data bases and be able to demonstrate effective communication to ensure deadlines are met. The role requires a highly organised individual who can coordinate and contribute to whole school activities such as School Development Days and after-hours staff meetings. The successful applicant will demonstrate the capacity to operate effectively within a focussed and distributive leadership team environment and have the flexibility to take on areas under any of the Deputy Principals portfolios.
