Manjimup Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated and highly competent Workplace Learning Coordinator

As a Workplace Learning Coordinator, you will be responsible for the selection and induction of students into the Workplace Learning program (WPL) program and the locating of industry placements for students. You will conduct site checks of employers and monitor students in their work placements.  You will provide advice and support in the development of best practice in curriculum development, planning and curriculum implementation in relation to systemic policy and Vocational Education Teachers (VET) initiatives.

At Manjimup SHS our approach to learning recognises the uniqueness of individuals and the importance of building relationships. As in Independent Public School catering for students from Year 7 to 12 we provide a supportive and caring environment equipping students with a strong sense of self-worth, leadership, civic and environmental responsibility.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • experience in developing, implementing and evaluating suitable programs for students acquiring life skills and/or skills accessing activities within a workplace environment.
  • well developed keyboarding and computer skills, including a working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
  • well developed written, oral and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • well developed organisational skills including the ability to meet deadlines and identify priorities.
  • well developed problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify appropriate solutions.

  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
  • obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
  • obtain or hold a valid Western Australian Driver’s Licence • obtain or hold a valid ‘White Card’
  • complete the Department’s induction program within 3 months of commencement
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within 6 months of appointment
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.

TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
