Kinross College is seeking a committed and knowledgeable educational leader to take on the role of Program Coordinator – Futures.
This is an exciting time for Kinross College as it prepares for expansion into Senior Schooling with the first Year 11 cohort commencing in 2024 and Year 12 cohort in 2025. From this comes an excellent opportunity the successful applicant to create something innovative and dynamic in assisting our students in their decision making regarding their futures. This role will involve working directly with students and parents to inform, support and guide them in choosing the best pathways of future study or alternative options.
The Futures Coordinator will work with the leadership team alongside the Associate Principal, Senior School. They will also work across the College to implement career-based programs and be a strong support in assisting students to make the suitable choices in regard to life beyond school. As the College expands, the Futures Coordinator will further develop and manage the Futures Hub and relevant staff within the team.
To be competitive for this role, it is desirable that the successful applicant have recent high level knowledge about the diversity of career pathways, with an understanding of school contexts in relation to local employers, community agencies and training providers. They will be expected to have strong communication skills and be able to liaise with and share information easily with students, staff, parents, training providers, employers and industry. A key focus of the role will be ensuring applicable students can access challenging and engaging Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs that support students in developing the knowledge, skills, and understandings necessary for them to have agency, and experience success, in their post-secondary lives. A key aspect of the role of the Futures Coordinator will be to provide educational leadership in the delivery and development of VET and work placement programs within the school and wider community. The successful applicant will be responsible for oversight of VET and Endorsed course enrolments, resulting, compliance and meeting of deadlines with SCSA, RTOs and school wide processes. In addition, the successful applicant will provide leadership and support the performance of teachers in relation to VET programs, as applicable. A current Certificate IV in Training & Assessment as well as experience in the delivery of a Certificate course is advantageous, but not required.
Possessing excellent organisational skills and extensive knowledge of WACE requirements, career options, including university entry, VET pathways and current industry requirements is therefore highly desirable in this role. An understanding of the local community context is also an advantage.
Kinross College opened in 2002 as a middle school but as of 2025 will be a full senior high school with years 7 to 12. The College offers a variety of high-performance programs for students to develop their talents and engagement such as the sports academies of Basketball, Soccer, Netball as well as our large Police Cadets Rangers Unit. There is a strong academic focus through the Academic Extension program and more recently the College has commenced Aviation studies which will continue to expand through the school. The College is well known for its Harry Potter themed room that was initially established to support literacy and engagement but has since taken on many other beneficial uses. There is a strong specialist music program that continues to grow at a rapid pace.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
