This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2023

Eastern Hills High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly competent, and enthusiastic English teacher to join their team.

The successful applicant should be highly effective in engaging and motivating students and creating an exciting learning environment. The successful applicant should have excellent interpersonal skills and be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and academic achievement in a supportive environment, where success is celebrated.

The successful applicant will ideally be able to reflect and assess the effectiveness of teaching practice, promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest. The successful applicant will work as part of a dedicated team to develop, review and deliver the English curriculum.

Applicants should possess the professional knowledge, understandings, and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school English curriculum. The ability to differentiate curriculum and implement innovative approaches to improve outcomes for both high and low achieving students is a key element to this position. You should build positive relationships with your students and be passionate about creating positive futures for students, be performance driven and utilise evidence based decision making skills.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

  • meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and

TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
