Wyalkatchem District High School (DHS) is seeking a dedicated Science and Mathematics Teacher to join their regional school.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Wyalkatchem District High School in 2023 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $7,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
About the role
As a science and mathematics teacher at Wyalkatchem DHS you would ideally possess excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum; be able to deliver content in an engaging manner; have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be a highly effective team member
The successful applicant will ideally have a strong application to explicit instruction along with hands on and engaging lessons for students: Being supportive, encouraging, and most importantly, build positive relationships will be highly regarded.
Our school
Wyalkatchem DHS, in the Central Wheatbelt, caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 10 We are a small District High School of 51 students, 25 secondary students. There is a Year 7 and 8 class consisting of 14 students and a Year 9 and 10 consisting of 14 students. Students are very appreciative of the support they have from all staff.
Our school is a central part of the community and parents play a vital role, helping out in classroom programs and volunteering on the School Council, Parents and Citizens Association and at sporting events, which we value highly.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
