Malibu School is seeking a dedicated and creative classroom or digital technologies Education Support Teacher to join our dynamic team.
The successful applicant should be a genuine innovator who displays creative planning and instructional flexibility, drawing on evidence-based teaching strategies and differentiated learning and assessment approaches to further students’ Personal, Social, Literacy and Numeracy development. Competent use of a range of technologies and experience in cross-curricular planning, aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum and Abilities Based Learning Education, Western Australia (ABLEWA) and/or Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN), is desirable. Knowledge and understanding of facilitating learning for students with autism, intellectual and/or physical disability is essential in this role. Experience or interest in supporting engagement and learning through the digital technologies curriculum is highly desired, though not essential.

Malibu School is an education support Kindergarten to year 12 school located in Safety Bay as a part of the South Metropolitan Education Region for students with intellectual and/or physical disability, sensory impairments (vision and hearing), challenging behaviours and/or autistic spectrum disorders. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

Eligibility
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
Training
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
