Shenton College
Technical Support Officer
00028555
Level 2, $67,302 - $72,386 per annum (PSCA 2022)

Advertised Vacancy Number: IPS/SS801197

This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2023

Shenton College is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Technical Support Officer to join our Technology Services team. This highly effective team is focussed on supporting the College community and ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of a large computer network to help fulfil our educational and administrative goals.

Shenton College is one of Australia’s leading co-educational schools with a population approaching 3000 students and 300 staff. The College’s strength is in its commitment to develop the ‘whole child’ and empower them to be confident and independent learners, so that they can be purposeful contributors to the greater community, develop their dreams and achieve their goals. The College has a proud culture of excellence, and our success is built on the skills of an outstanding staff, both teaching and non-teaching.

The Technical Support Officer’s role demands a high level of everyday frontline support of both our students and staff, and so well-developed interpersonal and communication skills are highly desirable. You should be able to work effectively within a team, and independently with limited supervision.

Although previous experience with the Department of Education’s Standard Operating Enviroment (SOE) will be well regarded, it is not essential, and we encourage applicants with diverse technology backgrounds to apply. However, previous experience with both Mac and Windows operating systems, associated desktop applications and hardware will be advantageous. It will be considered desirable if applicants also have some previous experience with Cisco-based networking infrastructure, audio-visual equipment, printers and other peripheral hardware.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to develop innovative solutions to information technology problems.
  • Ability to install and maintain network systems incorporating the Internet and Electronic Mail.
  • Organisational skills to develop effective administrative practices and the initiative to work with minimum supervision.

Applications will be assessed against these work related (selection criteria) of the position. The business needs of the school may also be considered. It is therefore recommended that you consider all information contained in the advertisement and any other related information before applying for the vacancy.

The Department is an equal opportunity employer and encourages people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and persons from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.
