Swan View Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a highly motivated and passionate Science Teacher to join their team.
The successful applicant should be student and relationship focused, highly motivated, innovative, and able to work effectively in a team environment, as well as exhibit an engaging and energetic teaching style. Applicants who can adopt inclusive and restorative practices, and build positive relationships with students, staff, and the community, are encouraged to apply. The ability to establish and maintain effective communication with parents and caregivers is highly desirable.
The successful applicant should have a sound knowledge and understanding of the Year 7–12 Western Australian Science Curriculum. Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) courses offered at Swan View SHS School include Chemistry, Human Biology and Psychology. The successful applicant should be able to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school Science curriculum, and ideally be proficient at developing teaching strategies that meet the educational needs of students with a range of ability levels. The ability to deliver explicit instructional techniques and high impact teaching strategies would be an advantage.
In addition, you should be self-reflective, able to establish and maintain a positive classroom environment, and encourage students to achieve their potential by embedding our school values in their classroom practice; Diligent, Accountable, Respectful, Extraordinary (DARE). Teachers who specialise in Human Biology, Psychology and/or Chemistry are strongly encouraged to apply and will be highly regarded.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
