Bob Hawke College is seeking a dynamic and innovative Teacher with the skills to engage students in learning Italian.
The successful applicant will design learning opportunities that provide students with essential communication skills in Italian, an intercultural capability, and an understanding of the role of language and culture in communication.
The successful applicant should pursue excellence in teaching and have high expectations. They should be a highly skilled educator and possess expertise in planning and pedagogy to deliver Italian lessons, providing a positive learning environment where students are inspired and motivated to learn.
The successful applicant should possess the ability to plan, teach and assess Italian, along with enthusiasm for promoting the importance of learning an additional language and display the willingness to engage in whole school programs and initiatives.
The successful applicant will ideally possess the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and to form positive relationships with students. You should be committed to building your professional capacity through continuous learning.
In this role, you will create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students, focussing on the development of the whole child. The successful applicant will ideally have the following attributes: They will be able to display care; be curious about learning and about learners; be invested in the College and the community; have a sense of humour; and be reflective of themselves and their practice.
Bob Hawke College in Subiaco opened in February 2020 to more than 250 Year 7 students and is the first high density public secondary college in Western Australia.
We understand the importance of looking after the wellbeing of the whole child. Every student at our College will be well known and valued. Our pastoral care approach has been specifically designed to support young adults. Specialist staff provide students with individual support as well as health and wellbeing programs. All our teaching and essential services staff excel in their profession and inspire and motivate students, encouraging them to take responsibility for themselves, for others and for the world around them.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
