This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2023

Halls Head College is seeking a highly organised and committed Business Support Officer to join their friendly team.

As Business Support Officer (BSO) you will ideally develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with members of the senior leadership, staff, students and parents, as well as our diverse school community and with a wide range of government and outside agencies. You should be a flexible team player with strong communication skills. The ability to remain calm in a busy office environment will be key to this role.

The successful applicant may be required to assist the Manager Corporate Services with a range of business operations. You should work well under pressure with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, with minimal supervision, and while effectively prioritising and meeting deadlines. Your role will include self-development, team development with the ability to provide training and guidance to support staff to achieve team outcomes.

As BSO you will be supporting a wide range of business operations which could include Financial Management, Human Resource Services, Facilities, Asset Management, and Curriculum Support Services.  An excellent working knowledge of the following systems would be highly desirable: Schools Information System (SIS), RM Finance, RM Billing, Human Resources Management System (HRMIS), Recruitment Advertising Management System (RAMS), Saron Education Quality Teachers Assistant (SEQTA), Hardcat, Asset Manager, Consent 2 Go, Bpoint and Flexipurchase.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Considerable experience providing input and effective support to the development, management, implementation and monitoring of business operations, systems and plans.
  • Well developed financial management skills, including data analysis, interpretation and reporting, and the ability to provide recommendations.
  • Sound human resource management knowledge and skills, including the ability to provide effective support and input into the development, implementation and monitoring of human resource management systems and processes.
  • Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Sound conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to identify appropriate solutions.

  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
