This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2023

Coastal Lakes College are seeking an administrator to work closely with the Executive Team and members of the broader College Leadership team to provide both strategic and operational leadership in the college. 

The Manager of Directions has a role in promoting the college vision, and encouraging college staff, volunteers from the community, and others to share ownership of the college’s vision and goals.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess a high level of organisational, interpersonal and management skills.

The Manager of Directions will liaise extensively with the Deputy Principals, Managers of Positive Support and Head of Learning Areas.  The successful applicant should be seeking the opportunity for both professional and personal growth within the dynamics of a new College as we seek to deliver on our vision of success for all students, understanding that success looks different for every student.

The successful applicant will provide whole of college leadership support for the implementation of the college’s Business Plan and administrative/operational assistance to the Associate Principal and Deputy Principals, including data analysis across years 7 to 12 to inform individual student pathway planning for all students, including those in education support.

You will also be responsible for College operations, ideally with a thorough understanding of the operational requirements of a secondary school including, but not limited to, the provision of curriculum expertise to Learning Areas in relation to pathway planning across the college years 7 to 12, National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) organisation. The successful applicant will also facilitate interagency links to maximise support for students requiring support or potential targeted intervention and will help facilitate parent links and parent’s participation and understanding to enhance positive educational outcomes for students.

The successful applicant should promote an ‘inclusive and positive approach’ philosophy and practice within Coastal Lakes College and facilitate professional learning for school staff to ensure that the learning environment in classrooms can be accessed by all students.

The successful applicant should understand that within the context of a new and growing college, many elements of the position may change and evolve over time.  You should have a flexible and solutions based approach to problem solving to facilitate workforce effectiveness.  It is highly desirable for the successful applicant to have Inclusive Education (Education Support) experience due to Coastal Lakes College having purpose built facilities to cater for Inclusive Education students. 

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
